making children's television worth watching...

We are dedicated to the development, creation and production of original premium children's television for national and international broadcasters. We work in animation, live action and puppetry - and produce shows for preschoolers and kids.

We love telling stories. Stories that make our young and not-so-young audiences stop and gaze at the awe and wonder all around them. Stories that entertain and bring a thrill to their lives.

We've been fortunate to have been invited to partner with some of the world's most highly respected names in children's television to produce shows with them - including
Sesame Workshop, The Jim Henson Company and the BBC.

Since 2008, we have produced almost 200 episodes of premium children's television which are aired all over the world. We're a Creative Business and for us, it's important to get both elements of that right: the Creative and the Business. We're delighted to have already earned over 30 major international awards to recognise our creativity - but also to have received major business accolades too, being ranked at the top of the Fast 50 growing companies in the UK and Ireland, and as one of the UK’s top indie producers by Televisual.

We're based in Belfast, Northern Ireland, a city reborn with a new spirit, a creative determination, a passion for quality and a lot of pride in our creative community.

We are a big work family and have a flat management structure with a strong full time development and production team. We believe in fun and our passion for what we do runs through everything we do. All of our core staff are STEM ambassadors and we share what we know with students, kids and new entrants, providing opportunities for them to spend time shadowing our crew, cast and talent.

Our business mantra is:
'Do some good, make some money, have some fun' and to this end, we are committed to donate at least 10% of our net profits each year to communities who have less than we do.

Our ideas team are completely dedicated to the creation and development of original ideas and formats which we showcase and pitch to international broadcasters all year round and at the three major children's festivals each year: Kidscreen, Mip and Cartoon Forum. Our passion is creating shows that are unique, innovative and which have the wow factor - and our slate includes preschool and kids shows - entertainment, educational, mysteries and dramas.

Colin Williams, our Creative Director formed Sixteen South in 2008 with a passion to create shows that children could relate to, laugh and sing along with, and look back in years to come as shows that influenced or shaped them in some way.

Colin began his career graduating with a first class degree in graphic design, and set up his commercial production house,
Inferno after several years of working in creative agencies in Belfast. Inferno produced high quality animation, film and interactive content for museums, television commercials and promos. After 8 years, 650 successful productions and a client base including the world's leading businesses, Colin decided to use his abilities to create work that would do some good and be seen and appreciated - and so, Sixteen South was born to make children's television worth watching.

Colin is Sixteen South's Creative Director, and oversees all the company's output as well as leading the company’s development team. He is joined and supported by his strong full time development and production teams.
